Yes, Read through the forums here, get yourself the usb bdm hardware and software, read some more. Oh and please don't use all caps. hard on the eyes. Seriously though, there is a lot of good info here and you can learn alot. My suggestion is that if you really want digital cable in you basement, call comcast and subscribe. guaranteed to work.

I can't find any numbers besides model no. Nowhere do I see ph 7 or ph 8. Model 2244 has a small no. 5 and no. 6 beside the bar code. That's the one that gets the digital channels. On the model 2224 there is a similar small no. but no ph. 7 or ph 8. Where do I go from here?

Please refer to usbbdm.proboards44.com/index.cgi?board=Project&action=display&thread=1108319813The reason you can not communicate to the board is that the board has a hardware watch dog. You need to lift the C105 capacitor. This apply to PH6 board as well. Also, be careful match the pin 1 for both board and USB BDM.

i can read them but i havent been able to program the firmware into any I can program the 1161 board. This is a two chip configuration. If you can not program, please post your brand of the flash chip and see if it compatible with ST M29W800AB. If not a new type can be added in next release. The only type option to program 1161 board is to select ST M29W800AB.

i have found with the 1161 that you have to erase the firmware first and then write it. if you leave the option to erase & write checked it seems to fail everytime for me. i have "3" 1161 boxes and they all have the ST M29W800AB chips.

yes i can and have got it to work before. normally when you use the program command the window that pops up has the option checked to "erase and write" in one step. i find it works better by unchecking that option and erasing the firmware and then writing. just an extra step.
