Okay, by now I understand how to hook one up and sorta on how to get one. But what exactly does it do? I am willing to do the research and spend time putting it to use but I want to know what to expect from my hard work. Please respond back.

The least you can do are 1. Clear the PPV memory. 2. Modify the firmware. 3. Read your firmware and analyze it. 4. Backup and restore your NVRAM. Your NVRAM holds all the information of your channels and subcribtions. In the future when all the secrets are understood, you should be able to 1. Change your MAC address. 2. Actitivate you box. 3. A lot more.

Yeah, I'm a noob. I have time and I am A+ Certified so I do know some things but this is above my head at this time. Personally, I would love to know how you all learned all of what you know but at this time, I just will wait.
My question is - Should I keep my box and hope for the best or should I just say f**k it and sell it on eBay while I can still get some money for it.

Ebay is a good spot, or your local classifieds. So far this site is geared towards the "2000" series model Dct. To get HDTV you would need a 6200 or 6208(PVR) box. They are relatively new and still quite expensive. I would imagine they use a different processor anyways, but i'm not sure.

Okay I have a buddy that is giving me a Comcast Digital Motorola box. It has a serial connection on it. What software can I use to re program the firmware etc? Also, willl this box work? And do I use a standard serial cable?
