I just wanted to post because I didn't see it yet. You will need to use a high pass filter on the back of the box to stop the 2way since like on dishnetwork and directtv once you order a PPV it gets sent to them and you get billed.
But you can also try taking off the cross cable on the back like what was posted for testing, but I dont know that would work for sure

I tried ""By pass"/"high pass filter" ways and they does NOT work. All PPV orders will be memorized in the box and will be reported to service provider once you connect it back to normal. If you do not connect back for a week, your box or PPV feature will be deactiveted by them. End up you need call them to active the box or PPV again. Of cause they will know how many PPV you have ordered.
The BDM is able to clear the local PPV memory before you connect the box back to normal.

taking off the jumper does work. it actually bypasses the return amp in the dct. but as usb2 said, eventually you will have to connect the box and it will upload the purchases.

This is not really true. If a PPV purchase is left on the set-top longer than ~30 days, it's considered an orphan purchase and will not upload. But this method will only allow you a certain amount of purchases to be stored on your set-top, limited by your cable provider. I believe the default is typicaly ~25.

This is all new to me on this site..SOOOOO be easy on me as I am here to learn.
2244 unit tested,XXXcast Cable,PA area
My understanding is that you can install a filter to stop the return billing signal. This I did! When tested ,I found that after several weeks the reciever became hosed up. Seems that since the reciever was unable to talk to mama, I figured the Firmwere was decaying..Once the filter was removed, the the PPV's were billed to my account, and the reciever worked as usuall.. Ok, now, when a hard reset was done to erase the PPV"S, the reciever nuts the bed on me, and it had to be replaced. Hard Rest was unsucessfull the second time (will post my proceedure on hard reset)
This time PPV's were ordered with the filter on, and my second thought was to drain the EEPROM chip from all power in an attempt to erase the PPV's. It was my understanding that the EEPROM chip stored billing data. I figured leaving it unplugged for 4-5 days would drain the unit bone dry ,due to internal back up battery's. Will post back in on Sunday
Cheers,

xytronic, do not try to work on EEPROM for PPV data!
The EEPROM (I believe is 24LC01) only exist on PH6 and older board. This chip hold 128 bytes of data which is the configuration of the box. (ABCD...). The same data was in flash in PH7/8 board. The chip is not big enough to hold PPV data.
The max PPVs a box can store are 64. But cable company might configure the box to have less max number.

your cable company polls the boxes a set intervals to retrieve purchases and make sure it is connected to the cabel plant. after a set number of no responses (3-5 usually) your box becomes a non-responder. depending on how how strict your cable provider is they can either, leave it alone and contact you to find out the probelm or shut you box down and wait for you to call and then they troubleshoot with you. sometimes people accidently shut off the return on their box by running the cable into their vcr first. 90% of vcr's can't pass a return signal so it blocks the upstream.
if by hard reset you mean holding select and power while plugging it in, this won't reset the ppv counter. it will erase your firmware and reset the box back to factory settings.

Yes that was the form of hard reset I spoke of, or a variation of that. So there's accually is no way to wipe the PPV's with a reset? interesting. I have been feed mis information. Thanks for clearing that up.
Very interesting. I knew I was here for a reason. Thanks guys. Ok now I'm hooked...

Yes, not to get totally of the subject I have a 2244/1161... and the only way to order PPV is to call in on different 1-800 numbers, I can not order by remote. I guess the question I am asking is, will the BDM product work on my unit or system?? (uses analog for basic service and the box is needed for the digital service ).

yes the bdm will work on your box. but it won't help with the ppv's. normally the cable company would bill your account when you call in. so you are billed when you order the event.
