Could we get a list going of the cable providers that these dct2xxx boxes will work on? I'm currently on brighthouse networks in FL, and I'm curious if anyone knows if it would work here. At least to get analog channels or whatever.

it will work there if they use motorola/general instruments boxes. Scientific Atlanta are the only other major makers of digital cable boxes. the two systems are not compatible though. call your cable provider or check their website to see which they use. Motorola doesn't make the 2224/2244 boxes anymore. they use a newer model "2500" now.

Pardon the stupidity, but if I have Motorola box from an old cable install (I dumped cable for sat and now I'm coming back) and my cable company now uses SA boxes, I won't be able to use my Motorola box?

Pardon the stupidity, but if I have Motorola box from an old cable install (I dumped cable for sat and now I'm coming back) and my cable company now uses SA boxes, I won't be able to use my Motorola box? nothing stupid about the question. it depends. did your cable company stop using motorola boxes all together or did they just start purchasing SA boxes to use with new customers? if they stopped using motorola altogether then they would have had to buy new boxes for every customer (big$$$'s). i would call them and ask if you can still use the box. some companies use both due to buying up smaller cable systems that used the other boxes and it's cheaper to support both then to swap them all out to another make. Motorola and SA boxes use different headend harware and are not compatible with each other.
