I just got digital cable with my local cable company. The guy said I need to hook the box (DCT2244) up to a phone line before I can get PPV.
Does this mean the company doesn't send a billing signal back through the cable line, and I don't need a high pass filter?
I am wanting to use a BDM to basically erase ppv orders before they get to the office.
Also are there any more BDM's left to buy?

yeah it sounds like your cable system isn't 2 way capable. you won't need a high pass filter, but without the phone connection present you might not be able to order ppv's anyway. i have never used a box with the phone connection. i believe the phone module is called starvue or starphone.

Yes, my cable company does have cable modems as well. I even use cable modem in my house.
but... he said that to order PPV I would have to hook up the phone line. also when I go into the diagnostics it has a section that talks about the phone module. in this sections is a local phone number. so it looks like it dials in the billing...
Maybe the cable is capable of 2 way talking, but they just don't have the equipment to recieve the reply?

Northland Cable. in TX Why would they tell me that then? And have the modem in the back of the box ect.. A local phone number is even programed into the box.

not impossible at all. many smaller market cable companies used the phone modem or made customers call in to order ppv before they went 2 way. northland cable is either too cheap or can't afford a new/upgraded billing system to take advantage of the 2 way ordering system. having rf return is no good if you can't collect the money from the purchases.

i agree. our system was like that for 2 years after digital was launched. it didn't matter if you had a cell phone, because you could call in to order it and they would bill your account at that time.
