When I factory reset to "0" my ebay box. With "0" cannot flip channel, so I did factory reset again. Here "hunt" appear. Leave for 1 day(read on forum about this)still went back to "0". Keep doing fr2"0" several times I get "load". Still went back to "0". Will try to do frc2"0" with clone FW and nvram on my area...see what happen...I post result.

i don't think any of the 2224/2244 boxes with only the factory firmware (5.50 in all boxes i have seen) will even display "hunt". they all usually go to "0" until they are told to download a newer firmware. i know none of the the 2224 boxes in my cable system display "hunt" but all of the newer 2500 model dct's do. makes me think that if a 2224/2244 box does display "hunt" it because a newer firmware is installed.
so to sum up, alot of people probably won't be able to get "hunt" on their boxes depending on which cable company the box is from.

If I clone a legal box's NVRAM to another box, with TV signal plugged in, the new box will show "HUNT" for about 1-2 seconds and then back to normal. No "Hunt" any more. No firmware download happened. When I have time, can check in the firmware why go there.

Factory reset with clone new FW from legal box. "hunt" appear for 1-2 sec then box turn off. Power-on box, get "0" again.

how do you do a "factory reset" and what is the benefit? hold power and select on the front of the box and p;ug in power. keep the buttons held in for a few seconds. leds will flash as long as power is applied. there is no real benefit, all it does is reset the box to the deafult firmware before it left the factory. this will NOT erase ppv memory.

Will this erase any downloaded firmwares, or does it just re-enable the original firmware and disable the latest firmware.
I have a box like this... in diag screen shows both versions, latest is disabled and original is enabled. 'Wish I could get rid of the new firmware, so this box can re-download the latest firmware and enable it.... or better still, just re-enable the lates firmware LOL

yes it will erase everything other than the default firmware. after the reset your box will show "0". i haven't tried to reload firmware after a factory reset, so no gaurentee you get anything other than "0" after you do it.
