Succesfully backup firmware 7.93 and nvram 2-936 from ph8 box(comcast). Able to set nvram to ph7(firmware 7.54) box but no picture on digital channel, analog only and perhaps this is cause of no picture. I even able to flip channel since I factory reset to 0 which will not you do it. Guess that factory reset wipe out old nvram(1-5xx). Having problem putting on 7.93 coz' still seeing 7.54 on diagnostic. Not sure how to proceed on part where to select flash type. I just select ok on the window that show. There are several selection on that window, please tell me which one. Also, how will you know if BDM done flashing. It just show several dots and pause. If unplug BDM, dots continue until "program pass"message appear. Another problem is error message(microsoft err msg and it will shut down apps) everytime using tool about unit address. ph8 box always have same unit and network address when I check on diagnostic, on ph7 box the network address is the same as ph8 box but the unit address is different. Please help me how to go around this problem. Thanks in advance for any help.

You must choose the right flash chip to have it flashed. For PH7/8 board, you might use Intel or MX chip. The chip is a TSOP soldered on the board close to the BDM.

The amarkings are odd. But there are two major selections, one is MXIC MX29LV160BT and another is INTEL TE28F160C3. So if one does not work, choose the other. I guess MXIC MX29LV160BT should work for you.

Awesome advise. I read and did all. FW flashed and unit address feature worked. Easy to figure what flash chip, it has marking of "Flash" and it is Intel chip(both ph7 and ph8). Still problem with cloning which I basically wanting to do. Digital channel(ph7 box) still has no picture and shows "not authorized",also in diagnostic channel status- but it shows connected. No premium channel HBO,Showtime,Cinemax and Starz on my subscrition(ph8 box) only have expanded basic digital channel with PPV. So your saying basic digital channel with PPV in my area are premium channel?
