On our cloned box the tvguide app & setup menu etc is called preview. This box has 2 way comms disabled. On our legit box, which has 2 way comms the guide is different, I forget the exact app name. Has a useful feature, timers (in setup menu), to change channel at a specific time. The interesting thing is that after cloning nvram, the cloned box will first download the guide app with extra features(probably with the ondemand app), then (maybe) when it reaizes that It cannot communicate back, it downloads the regular preview app disables the fancy one, reboots and deletes the fancy ondemand app. Is there a way to force it to continue using the other app? I'm _not_ attempting to use ondemand FYI: The app with extra features is never usable, since the box disables the app imediately after downloading and rebooting, and continues to download reg. preview. The nvram does have a role in which guide app is downloaded initially. If I use the nvram that came with the box before cloning, and simply 'connect' the nvram. The first app downloaded is 'preview' - Probably because that nvram is pre-ondemand.

thats on demand..u cant use it untill there is a good hack for activation and other stuff
menu is the same what u talking about is on demand app i know cuz my friend has on demand and when i put his box onto mine dosent work because if has something to do with the xc chip has to be enabled in there to work. on demand is the only app that needs 2 way comm to work. forget aobut that if u cant see any premiums u cant use on demand anyway.
any box still has 2 way communication enable the box automaticaly sends responses is never disabled unless u do not connect the uplink

thats on demand..u cant use it untill there is a good hack for activation and other stuff Not trying to use ondemand.. There is an option on the setup menu called "timers", which allows you to record (change channels) at a specified time. This menu is part of the ondemand guide application and not the preview guide application. May be different in your area. There must be a section of the firmware code that checks for 2 way comms, surely we can just change the jump op so it's the same if 2 way is enabled or disabled. I may be wrong, but I see no reason for the XC chip handling this piece of code.

we don't have ondemand here yet, but our prevue guide has the timer function in it. i believe it's version 15.44. by the sound of it there must be a 2way check in the ondemand guide. if it doesn't see the return it just shuts it off figuring it doesn't need it. you said you copied the nvram, but did you try dumping your legit firmware and putting it on your clone box? this should copy the new guide on, weather or not it works, hard to say.

I didn't copy the firmware since after I updated the nvram, the same firmware that the legit box has downloaded automatically on the clone.
Preview (-timers) is 15.22 here.
PS Our guide app is always lost after a reset or power cycle.

that's odd. our guide will show "to be announced" on al channels after a pc or reset. it stays loaded all the time though. it has always been that way. obviously some companies use nvram instead of firmware memory area to store the guide app. your probably out of luck for now.
